INSTRUCTION
ASSIGNMENT 2A TUTORIAL
Before starting Assignment 2A, Mr. Max demonstrated the techniques required for each task. The first tutorial focused on recolouring, where skin and hair colours were adjusted. The second tutorial was Heart Mansion, which involved placing a character into a mansion background using Photoshop compositing techniques. The final tutorial introduced double exposure, where different images were blended together to create a surreal composition.
ASSIGNMENT 2A RECOLOURING
For the recolouring task, I selected a picture of Jin from BTS from the images provided by the lecturer. I changed his hair colour to dark turquoise blue using Photoshop recolouring techniques that have been demonstrated.
ASSIGNMENT 2A HEART MANSION
For the Heart Mansion task, I took an eye level photograph of myself leaning against a wall and placed it into the mansion background and adjusted the placement of the image so that it looked more suitable and natural within the scene.
ASSIGNMENT 2A DOUBLE EXPOSURE
For the Double Exposure task, I used an old photograph of myself as the main subject and combined the portrait with ocean waves, chains, and clouds to create a double exposure artwork titled "Drift".
Title: Drift
Concept Description:
Drift represents the journey of moving through life's
challenges and uncertainties. The ocean waves symbolize the ups and downs that
people experience, while the chains represent the burdens and fears that can sometimes
hold us back. The clouds create a sense of uncertainty but also suggest hope
and new possibilities ahead. Through the combination of these elements with my
portrait, the artwork reflects how people may feel lost or overwhelmed at
certain moments yet continue moving forward and growing through their
experiences.
Through this assignment, I learned how to use different Photoshop tools and techniques to create various of visual effects. Among the three assignments, the most challenging part was the recolouring task, especially changing the hair colour, as I kept making mistakes and had to repeatedly refine the selection and colour adjustments to achieve a cleaner result.
The double exposure task was also challenging because I needed to experiment with different images, opacity levels, and compositions. Although the process required patience and multiple adjustments, I was satisfied with the final outcome. Overall, this assignment helped me improve my Photoshop skills and gain a better understanding of how images can be manipulated to communicate different ideas and emotions.
